Wendy Ranzau has been appointed chief operations officer for the nonprofit Hospice by the Bay in Larkspur. She previously served as service director for Home Health and Hospice for Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco.

David Schmidt has been appointed interim chief credit officer at Summit State Bank. His career in banking spans more than 30 years, including 14 years at the former Bank of Petaluma, seven years at Bank of Marin and 10 years with the Comptroller of the Currency.

Erica Mikesh has been hired as a project engineer in the civil division of Summit Engineering in Santa Rosa. She earned a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering at UC Berkeley.

Keith Gellerman has been hired as a staff engineer in Summit Engineering's Water/Wastewater Division. With four years of experience in the field, he earned a civil engineering degree at UC Irvine and a master's degree in environmental engineering at UC Davis.

John D. Laughlin has been named assistant superintendent of special education for the Sonoma County Office of Education. He has served more than 20 years in education, including nearly three years as an administrator in the county's special education program.

Community First Credit Union has re-elected three incumbents to its board of directors: Brian Cochran, Jean Neff and Tom Scott. Elected to the credit union's supervisory committee, which oversees auditing, were incumbent Maud Fitzpatrick and new members Jeanette St. George and Christine Haggarty.
