Nelson Staffing in Sonoma reports 26 percent revenue increase

The Sonoma company reported a revenue jump of 26 percent for 2014 on growing demand for contract staffing, direct placement, independent contractors and payroll services.|

Sonoma-based Nelson Staffing reported its revenues increased 26 percent last year to $199 million, as more companies struggled to find talented employees in a tight labor market.

The company reported growing demand for contract staffing, direct placement, independent contractors and payroll services.

“Organizations are facing an acute shortage of skills globally, and when it comes to overcoming this shortage, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach,” Nelson CEO Donna Farrugia said in a statement.

Nelson Board Chairman Craig S. Nelson observed, “In order to stay competitive, companies need to have an aggressive recruiting strategy while continuing to train their current workforce.”

The two officials said Nelson’s growing revenues demonstrate its success in helping find solutions for clients.

Nelson was founded in 1970 by Gary D. Nelson, an investor in Sonoma Media Investments, which owns The Press Democrat. The company has offices throughout the West Coast and the southwest United States.
