AT&T has spent $80 million in improvements to its wired and wireless networks in the Santa Rosa/Petaluma area in the past three years, the company announced Thursday.

For this area, AT&T last year made 16 wireless network upgrades, including three new cellular sites. The work included expanding 4G LTE coverage in Petaluma around Old Adobe and Frates roads, including at the Adobe Creek Golf Course.

“We’re proud that our continued investment in California is driving innovation and opening up new possibilities for consumers and entrepreneurs,” AT&T California President Ken McNeely said in a statement.

As well, the company said it has committed to expanding and improving both “wireline and fixed wireless” high-speed Internet service for at least 15 million customers across 48 states - most of them in underserved rural areas.
