Petaluma inventor snares $50,000 on 'Make Me a Millionaire Inventor'

The Petaluma inventor of a device that attaches LED lights to ice skates received a $50,000 investment at the conclusion of a CNBC program that aired Wednesday night.

Ralph Haney acknowledged that when he agreed to appear on Wednesday's episode of 'Make Me a Millionaire Inventor,' he had hoped to win a larger amount of money that would allow him to hire employees and begin mass production of his Glo-Blades lights product.

But when a potential investor offered to invest $50,000 in the company, Haney said he knew 'I'd be a fool to not accept it.'

The new funds likely will help produce Glo-Blades specifically for professional ice shows, he said.

Going on the TV show provided national coverage for his invention, Haney said. As well, he gained a new infusion of funds and 'a solid investor' with numerous business connections.

'I absolutely see it as a success,' Haney said.
