Santa Rosa’s Exchange Bank has taken steps to bulk up its mortgage origination business by bringing on Dennis Harter, president and founder of Sequoia Pacific Mortgage Co., and three of his employees.

Harter, who has 29 years of experience in the mortgage business, next month will become a vice president and residential mortgage manager for the bank, overseeing sales, processing and operations for mortgage originations. Exchange Bank did not purchase Sequoia.

The bank will do more than $75 million in new originations this year, said Howard Daulton, senior vice president for corporate and business development.
