Viavi’s Santa Rosa unit reports 28% jump in sales

Demand remains strong for Viavi’s color-shifting pigments, that help thwart currency counterfeiting.|

The Santa Rosa-based division of Viavi Solutions continues to post strong results, with quarterly revenue climbing 28.3 percent from a year earlier, the company reported Tuesday.

The division’s revenues totaled $62.1 million for the quarter ending April 2.

Demand remains strong for Viavi’s color-shifting pigments that help thwart currency counterfeiting, officials said.

“The business continues to benefit from high volume bank note printing,” Viavi President and CEO Oleg Khaykin said in a conference call with equities analysts.

The Santa Rosa division, with about 450 workers, last fall posted a record quarterly revenue of $64.2 million.

Milpitas-based Viavi, formerly known as JDS Uniphase, on Tuesday reported total quarterly revenue of $220.4 million, an increase of 3.8 percent from a year earlier. The company’s network and service enablement divisions saw revenues decline 3.5 percent to $158.3 million.
