Sonoma County hotel revenues up 8.5 percent for year

Sonoma County’s hotel industry remains on track for another banner year, with 2016 revenues to date increasing 8.5 percent from a year earlier.

County hotel revenues through October totaled $242 million, according to travel research company STR. That is the largest amount in at least a decade and possibly a record for the county.

The average room rate in October was $185.58, an increase of 3.1 percent from a year earlier. The month’s occupancy rate was 81.8 percent, about 1 percent lower than October 2015.

County room prices have steadily increased over the past six years. The average room rate has climbed 47 percent since October 2010, when it was $125.99.

The STR monthly survey includes data on nearly 6,200 hotel rooms in the county.
