Constellation Brands promotes executive

Bill Newlands, a longtime wine executive with ties to this region, has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer at Constellation Brands, based in Victor, New York.

The new position is a promotion for Newlands, who joined Constellation in 2015 and most recently served as president of its Wine & Spirits Division.

His career includes positions at E. & J. Gallo, Simi Winery, Domaine Chandon, Allied Domecq, Wine.com and the former Healdsburg-based Beam Inc., where he led North American operations.

Constellation is the No. 3 beer company in the United States and a leader in premium wines, including Robert Mondavi and Clos du Bois.
