Nearly 70 percent of the ?electricity sold to PG&E customers last year came from “greenhouse-gas-free resources,” a significant increase from 2015, the utility reported Thursday.

A year ago, the electricity from such sources, including large hydroelectric and nuclear facilities, was 58 percent of the total, said PG&E spokesman Denny Boyles.

“We’re proud of our progress,” Boyles said.

Renewable sources, including solar, wind, geothermal and small hydroelectric sources, accounted for 32.8 percent of total electricity.

Sonoma Clean Power, which serves the majority of county residents, will release its 2016 electric mix later this spring. For 2015, its portion from renewable sources equaled ?36 percent and from greenhouse gas-free sources, including renewable, amounted to ?77 percent.
