Drinking Stories podcast: What you need to know about chardonnay

How much oak is too much when it comes to aging chardonnay? Winemaster Randy Ullum from Kendall-Jackson gives us the lowdown.|

The “Drinking Stories” podcast continues its series on the different grape varietals of Sonoma County by focusing on chardonnay.

Chardonnay is America's most popular wine and was championed by the late Jess Jackson, who popularized it into the premium category and helped put the Sonoma County industry on the map.

So who better to talk about this grape than Kendall-Jackson's Randy Ullom? Ullom was hired by Jackson in 1993 and has been the winemaster at the winery for the last 20 years. He covers what you need to know about this varietal, including the big debate over how much oak is too much when it comes to aging chardonnay.

Cheers.
