16-year-old suspect in Ukiah New Year's Day stabbing arrested

The 16-year-old boy wanted in connection with a New Year's Day stabbing of a man in Redwood Valley was arrested without incident in Santa Rosa Thursday, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's office.

Victor De La Cruz of Ukiah surrendered to Mendocino County Sheriff's Detectives at approximately 6 p.m. Thursday.

De La Cruz was booked into Mendocino County juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder.

De La Cruz is suspected of stabbing a 20-year-old man after a verbal altercation on Campbell Drive on the Coyote Valley Reservation in Redwood Valley. The man was taken to Ukiah Medical Center and later flown to a hospital outside of Mendocino County.

The name and location of the victim, who was in critical condition, are not being released for fear of retaliation.
