Two Petaluma men who Cotati police allege tagged about 75 signs, bus stops, redwood trees and other objects on a mile-long stretch of Old Redwood Highway have been arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism.
Cotati police Lt. Bill French said in a written statement that the air was arrested after the department received a call at 3:04 a.m. reporting two men in their early twenties vandalizing objects in an area near Walgreens just south of Gravenstein Way, he said.
Officers found two men matching that description, one of whom was marking a utility box, French said. They were identified as Anthony Lloyd Poole, 21, and Anthony William David Mazzina, 20. The person who reported the tagging identified the men as the ones he had observed earlier.
The trail of graffiti ran along Old Redwood Highway from Eucalyptus Avenue at the southern city limit to the northern edge at Gravenstein Way. The men were booked into Sonoma County jail with bail set at $5,000 each. French asked that anyone with information about the case to call the police department at 792-4611.
