Those e-cigarettes that some people use as an alternative to regular cigarettes in some cases disguise illicit drug use, as well.

That's the kind of tip Sebastopol police intend to impart during a public informational meeting Thursday night addressing local trends in teen-age drug use they hope will help parents and others intervene.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting at the Analy High School Theatre is an outgrowth of presentations police have provided to West County educators to ensure they're aware enough to recognize problems in their midst, police Chief Jeff Weaver said.

Now parents, grandparents and other community members have a chance to find out about practices like smoking hash oil in electronic cigarettes.

The 6:30 p.m. meeting will include presentations by local police as well as members of the campus 1-4-1 program promoting healthy lifestyle choices for middle and high school students.

The meeting should last a little more than an hour, Weaver said.

"We hope there will be hundreds of people there," he said.
