Police: Woman run over after drunken argument in Sonoma

A Sonoma woman suffered major injuries after being hit by a car, according to the CHP Monday.

The woman, Martha Arias Harris, 30, and the driver who hit her were both intoxicated, the CHP said.

Officers arrested driver Peter Cosgrove, 23, of Sonoma on suspicion of drunken driving after the 2:50 a.m. incident Thursday.

The two reportedly were arguing while in a driveway of a Sonoma area home. As Cosgrove started to drive away in a 2002 Buick, Harris walked into the path of the car and was run over, said the CHP.

She was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Cosgrove was taken to the Sonoma County Jail. He was booked, and later released after posting bail.
