A Sebastopol man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence for the fifth time on Tuesday, Sebastopol police said.

Police said they stopped David Albert Thomas, 56, after they noticed his vehicle's registration had expired. Thomas showed signs on being drunk and under the influence of prescription medication, police said in a statement released Wednesday.

They determined that his blood alcohol level was 0.15 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08, and arrested him on suspicion of DUI, police said.

Records show that Thomas has been arrested four other times for DUI since 1989, police say. In 2004, he was convicted of felony DUI.

The District Attorney's Office is again seeking charges of felony DUI, police said. Thomas was taken to the Sonoma County Jail and his bail set at $51,000.
