Petaluma police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who robbed the Bank of the West Tuesday morning.
A man described as Latino, five feet eight inches tall and about 150 pounds passed a note to a teller demanding money about 11:30 a.m., Lt. Tim Lyons said. No weapons were seen during the robbery.
The man escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers responding to the bank, at 311 N. McDowell Blvd., were unable to locate the man or his truck, described as a black, late 1980s Chevrolet fleetside, two-wheel drive, open-bed truck. Witnesses said the paint was either in very poor condition or that it was possibly primer.
The man shown in a surveillance photo has dark hair and is unshaven. He was wearing black-and-gray striped beanie, black-framed glasses, a dark gray hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans and dark shoes.
The man was last seen driving south on North McDowell near the Petaluma Community Center.
Investigators are asking for help from the public to identify the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Tamara Shoemaker at 778-4444.
