Police: Rash of gas thefts in Lakeport

A rash of gasoline theft cases cropped up in Lakeport this week as someone is siphoning fuel from cars, said Lakeport police Wednesday.

Officers have a possible description of a young man, possibly driving a mini pickup. The vehicle also may have damage to the rear fender and bumper, said police in a release.

About eight vehicles were hit Sunday and Monday nights. Six were parked in the Del Lago area, one on 15th Street and one along the 1800 block of South Main Street.

The thief or thieves weren't able to get gas from every vehicle, police said.

A white man in a mini pickup has been seen on two different nights near some of the targeted vehicles.

Witness information includes that the person seen was 19-23 years old, had a thin build, short hair and he wore a cap with a flat bill.

Lakeport police asked anyone with information to contact officers at 707 263-5491.
