Glen Ellen bank robbed at gunpoint; suspect sought

A man brandishing a gun robbed the Westamerica Bank in Glen Ellen on Friday evening, the Sonoma County Sheriff's office said Saturday.

Bank employees reported to deputies that the suspect entered the bank just after 5:30 and demanded money at gunpoint. The suspect took the money, placed it in a blue backpack and fled on foot northbound on Arnold Drive.

Sheriff's deputies and a helicopter searched the surrounding area without finding the suspect.

From surveillance video, deputies believe the suspect to be a white male, approximately six feet tall, mid to late 20s with reddish or blonde hair.

The suspect was wearing a light blue long sleeve pullover sweatshirt, khaki colored cargo pants and dark tennis shoes with white soles. The suspect wore black sunglasses and a black ski mask.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes Investigations Bureau at 565-2185.
