Point Arena man suspected of making threats with fake gun

A Point Arena man has been arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats after Mendocino County Sheriff's officials say he pointed a fake gun at another man and threatened to kill him.

Brian Shannon, 52, is being held in Mendocino County Jail on no-bail warrants issued in Florida, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The incident occurred Monday morning in Point Arena, sheriff's officials said.

The 61-year-old victim said he had known Shannon for several months and that they had been in an ongoing dispute over a business transaction, officials said.

Deputies later found Shannon sitting in his vehicle. They found a realistic-looking replica of a handgun in his possession and arrested him without incident, officials said.

A records check revealed that Shannon was wanted for outstanding no-bail warrants from Florida, they said.
