A Vallejo man was hospitalized and arrested for felony driving under the influence following a crash Saturday night on Lakeville Highway, the CHP said.
Tyler Barker, 21, was driving northbound on Lakeville Highway at 10:40 p.m. when he lost control of a 1993 Honda Civic on a long curve south of Old Lakeville Road, Sgt. Erik Egide said. Witnesses said the Honda was traveling at a high rate of speed and the road was dry, he said.
The Honda crossed over a double yellow line and across the southbound lane, sideswiping a southbound vehicle. Barker's car ran off the west side of the road, colliding with a tree, a street sign and breaking through a chain link fence, Egide said.
The car struck a second tree and was catapulted back onto the roadway, coming to rest in the southbound lane.
During its crash, the Honda kicked up dirt and gravel that did significant damage to another southbound vehicle, Egide said.
Barker was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he was placed under arrest. His condition was not available Sunday.
The driver of the sideswiped vehicle complained of pain but declined treatment.
