Fort Bragg man arrested on drug, molest charges

A Fort Bragg man remained jailed Friday on suspicion of molesting a boy, providing him with drugs and showing him pornography, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

Harold Casebolt, 51, is being held on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor, sexual battery, child endangerment, providing a minor with marijuana, providing a minor with a controlled substance and exhibiting harmful matter to a minor, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies arrested Casebolt after receiving a tip that he might be molesting the boy, who had been in his care for about a month, officials said.

Deputies conducted a welfare check and found a pornographic movie playing on a TV and sexual instruments and marijuana in plain sight, sheriff's officials said.

Both the suspect and victim, whose age was unavailable, were under the influence of methamphetamine, officials said.

During the ensuing investigation, detectives were told that Casebolt repeatedly touched the boy inappropriately while both slept in the same bed.

Casebolt's bail is set at $75,000 bail.
