A report of a possible car burglary led Petaluma police to arrest a man they suspect of possessing heroin Saturday night.

The burglary was reported on the 500 block of Murray Drive at just after 9 p.m., according to a news release issued by the Petaluma Police Department.

The officer who responded saw a man walking from the front of one house to the driveway of another. The man then walked to a pick-up truck parked in the area, where the officer thought the man began acting "suspiciously."

He stopped the man, and another officer came with a police dog to search the truck.

The police dog, Jimmy, found syringes and a little more than a gram of heroin sitting on a tire, police said.

Police arrested the man, Christopher Ray Knapp, 28, of Rohnert Park, on suspicion of possession of heroin and violating probation.
