Rohnert Park police seized nearly 1,500 marijuana plants, more than 60 pounds of processed marijuana buds and $9,000 in cash from what they said was a growing and trafficking operation in Petaluma and Monte Rio.
Police said they found evidence of a possible drug operation during a traffic stop on Highway 101 just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Daren Van Dyke, 34, was arrested later that day after police searched his home on Chapman Lane west of Petaluma and found "a large marijuana growing operation," police said.
That search, police said, led to a second location in Monte Rio, where a search warrant was served on Wednesday. Police arrested Ismael Figueroa Chavez, 34, of Larkfield, who they said was in the process of burying marijuana plants.
Van Dyke was arrested on suspicion of cultivating and possessing marijuana for sale and was booked into the Sonoma County jail. Chavez was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and possession of marijuana and destroying evidence.
