A 20-year-old Clearlake woman was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing a car earlier in the day.
Police said they received a report that a green 2002 Ford Escort had been stolen from the 3700 block of Pearl Avenue just before 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Within an hour, police said, there were reports a similar car was seen driving recklessly in the area of the Pomo School on Acacia Street.
An Escort matching the description of the stolen car was found parked at Country Club Drive and Arrowhead Road. Police said there were three people in the car, which had rear-end damage and was missing its license plate.
Police detained the occupants at gunpoint.
The driver, Janea Armstead, admitted stealing the car, police said. She was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicle theft and booked into the Lake County Jail.
The Escort's other occupants were both juveniles. They were cited on suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving, driving without a license and daytime curfew violations, police said. Both were released to parents or guardians. Police said they believed the juveniles did not know the car had been stolen.
The vehicle was returned to its owner.
