Petaluma residents interested in art are invited to participate Saturday in a public art forum.

Presentations will be made about "public art and river towns" and residents can learn more about creating works for the city's first public art project along the Petaluma River.

Members of the city's public art committee will discuss Petaluma's public art program and solicit input from residents.

The committee, which typically meets on the fourth Thursday each month, advises city leaders on incorporating art into public places in ways that celebrate Petaluma's history, environment and diversity.

Guest speakers for Saturday's special meeting will include artist Susan Leibovitz Steinman, Susan Starbird of Petaluma Waterways and Alison Marks, chair of the committee.

The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Petaluma Arts Center, 210 Lakeville St.
