Lake County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 23-year-old West Sacramento man and seized nearly 8 ounces of meth after a traffic stop in Nice on Thursday night.
Jose Eugenio Cabrera was arrested on suspicion of possession, possession for sale, being under the influence and paraphernalia and booked into the Lake County Jail.
Cabrera was a passenger in a car with two other men that was heading westbound on Highway 20 in Nice. Sheriff's deputies said the car had a defective brake light and was pulled over at the Robinson Casino parking lot.
During the stop, Deputies said Cabrera said he was the owner of the car. They said they smelled marijuana and received permission from Cabrera to search the car.
A police K-9 was brought in to search the vehicle and indicated a locked box under the front seat may contain drugs. Using a key that was on a lanyard around Cabrera's neck, Deputies unlocked the box and found 7.75 ounces of meth and a glass pipe. Deputies said the meth had a street value of $22,000.
The two other passengers were released at the scene.
