A Santa Rosa woman died Saturday evening when her husband, who is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of their car and broadsided a tree on Franz Valley School Road west of Calistoga, CHP officials said.
Late Saturday night, the CHP identified the woman as Deandra Norman, 33.
The crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m. near Franz Valley Road. Norman's husband, John Norman, 33, was driving west on Franz Valley School Road in a 2005 Nissan 350Z.
"As a result of alcohol and speed, he was unable to control his car. The vehicle veered off the roadway and broadsided a tree," CHP Officer Marcus Hawkins said.
Hawkins said John Norman, who is being treated for major injuries at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, is expected to face felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.
John Norman was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was listed in serious but stable condition Sunday.
