SJRC men to host Northern California golf feature

Aiming for another trip to the state finals, the Santa Rosa Junior College men's golf team<NO1> will take on the best in Northern California.

Santa Rosa hosts the NorCal Championship at Mayacama today, in the hills between Santa Rosa and Windsor.

Six teams made the tournament. The top pair in the 36-hole format, over two rounds today, advance to the California Community College Athletic Association championships, in Riverside on May 12.

"It's exciting," said Santa Rosa coach Dave Herrington. "We're very fortunate to be hosting. It's a great course."

The 6,700 yard course is a challenging par-72 layout. Shot making is at a premium. Scores can go high in a hurry if players are not on their games.
