Public Schools Week kicks off Friday with an opening ceremony at Coddingtown Mall in Santa Rosa.
The week, which shines a spotlight on student work, academic programs and extracurricular offerings at Sonoma County public schools, runs through May 14. The theme is "Believe and Achieve."
An opening ceremony is set for 4 p.m. Friday.
Seven schools are slated to perform music, drama and academic feats over the course of three days.
Friday's lineup includes a strings performance from Mark West School District students, and performances from Willowside Middle School band and chorus members.
On Monday, Wright Charter School will send its team of mental math wizards to the stage, followed by a chess demonstration.
On Tuesday, Rincon Valley School District students will give a band performance, followed by Mark West students on guitar, El Verano School's orchestra, Kenwood School's band, and chorus and drama performances from Roseland School District students.
Introduced in Sonoma County in 1981, the event features individual student work and highlights educational programs. Before the event returned in 2012, the program was last hosted in 1992.
