A Fort Bragg man remained in the Mendocino County jail Friday for allegedly punching a police officer in the face.
Joseph Ray Little, 24, is being held on $10,000 bail, according to jail officials. He was arrested Thursday on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and for violating his probation, according the Fort Bragg Police Department.
Police said Little punched the officer when he approached him about loitering in and around a park bathroom.
Little rushed the officer, hit him, then fled, police said. He was caught several blocks away in the parking lot of the Fort Bragg Fire Department. Little resisted the officers, who then used a Taser to try to subdue him, officials said. The Taser was ineffective and officers said they had to force Little to the ground before taking him into custody.
Two officers were injured during the arrest, officials said. They were treated at Mendocino Coast District Hospital.
Little has had prior arrests for obstructing or resisting police. He is on probation for unrelated offenses, according to police.
