The Giants had played well throughout a testing three-city trip and the season's first 38 games. At 24-14, they're tied for the best record in the National League.

The latest victory came on a day when Bochy rested regulars and threw out the emergency lineup. The Giants faced Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, then watched closer Sergio Romo blow a save for the first time in 13 tries this season.

With stellar defense and timely hitting, the Giants finished a 7-3 road trip against three teams -#8212; the Dodgers, Braves and Pirates -#8212; that played in the playoffs last season. The Giants didn't make an error in the final five games of the trip.

"To go 7-3, I can't say it surprised me," Bochy said. "I think they're that good out there."

It was the Giants' seventh win in 10 tries against the Dodgers this season.
