A Santa Rosa driver was arrested Sunday after leaving the scene of a crash that sent two people to the hospital, a CHP official said.

Officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash on Highway 1 in Bodega Bay at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Officer Jonathan Sloat said.

They found that a Toyota Scion and a Ford Explorer had hit each other head-on. The two people riding in the Ford Explorer suffered what police called moderate injuries and had to be taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

A witness from the Bodega Bay Fire Department told police he had seen two Hispanic men walk away from the Toyota, Sloat said. A state parks ranger in the area found two men matching the witness's description inside Lucas Wharf restaurant in Bodega Bay.

Officers identified one of the men as the driver based on minor injuries, Sloat said. The man gave police a false name and birthday, Sloat said.

Police later identified him through fingerprints as Sergio Martinez, 26.

They arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury, felony hit and run, driving without a license and providing false information to police.
