Montgomery High School notifies student families of after-hours assault on campus

Montgomery High School officials this week notified parents and teachers that an apparent sexual assault took place Friday evening, after school hours, on one of the school's baseball fields.

The attack did not involve any students, Principal Laurie Fong said in a note sent to parents Monday afternoon.

She said that Santa Rosa police are investigating the incident. Investigations Sgt. Terry Anderson declined to comment about the case.

The reported attack took place about 6 p.m., Fong said. She didn't know much else about the assault, as she has not yet heard directly from police.

"Safety on our campus, regardless of school hours, is a priority for our district," she told parents, asking them to help keep the campus safe after-hours and report any suspicious activity to the police.

School officials regularly talk to students about safety, she said, but they do not have any special assemblies planned because of the reported attack.
