The joy of chickens will be celebrated at the second annual Chicken-stravaganza Sunday, May 18 at Santa Rosa Junior College's Shone Farm.
The free event, presented by the junior college's Poultry Project, will feature guest speakers, children's activities, wine and olive oil tastings and a potluck.
Talks will cover poultry behavior, interpreting the welfare of backyard birds, bandaging and wound treatment and cooking with eggs. The speakers will include instructors and specialists from the junior college, UC Davis and the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the farm, 7450 Steve Olson Lane near Forestville.
