Marin County sheriff's officials confirmed Thursday that a missing Santa Rosa mom was found dead in a rural area near Bolinas on Wednesday.

Searchers found the body of Jade Dashiell, 41, shortly after noon Wednesday in a forested area near Bolinas, Lt. Keith Boyd said. He did not specify where her body was found.

Dashiell, described as a devoted mother of three who was very involved in her children's Bennett Valley schools, was last seen Tuesday morning while dropping her kids off at school. She was reported missing at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

In a press release seeking the public's help finding her, Santa Rosa police said a gun was missing from Dashiell's home and that she may have been despondent over "recent life events."

Dashiell's white GMC Yukon was found Tuesday at a Palomarin trailhead near the Point Reyes National Seashore. Searchers began canvassing the area that evening but suspended the search overnight. She was eventually found in a remote, rugged area, Boyd said.

Boyd did not disclose if a gun was found near Dashiell's body or the circumstances of her death, saying he will not release a cause of death until a forensic examination and additional investigation is completed.

However, he doesn't currently suspect foul play.

Boyd said he waited to disclose her identity until it had been confirmed with fingerprints and he had contacted her family.
