Heading east on Bodega Highway, just west of Sebastopol, a driver lost control of his car, overturned and landed in a shallow creek where CHP officers found him Saturday morning, deceased.

The driver was Hoeuth Hin, 41, of Santa Rosa, according to the Sonoma County Coroner's Office.

A passer-by reported the overturned car at 9:17 a.m., said CHP Sgt. Ross Ingels.

It appeared the crash occurred during the night.

Officers found the overturned Honda CRX near Sexton Road. The driver still was strapped into his seat.

There was about 2 feet of water in the creek and water in the car and Hin was partially submerged. The cause of death was pending a coroner's investigation, Ingels said.

A preliminary investigation indicated Hin lost control and his car, which spun 180 degrees across the lane before sliding off of the roadway, flipping and landing in the creek bed.

There were no known witnesses to the crash.

Whether alcohol was involved in the crash remained under investigation.
