A Santa Rosa man who tried to drive around stopped traffic at the scene of a car crash Sunday evening was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
A CHP officer was responding to a crash on Calistoga Road north of Plum Ranch Road around 9:30 p.m. and had stopped traffic by parking in the road with his emergency lights on, Officer Jon Sloat said.
Two cars stoppped, but another one, a Honda Civic, crossed the double yellow lines into the lane of oncoming traffic to get around the crash, Sloat said. The officer stopped the Honda by pulling his car in front of it.
After stopping the driver, Reed Snook, 55, of Santa Rosa, the officer noticed he was acting drunk, Sloat said. Snook was already on probation for an April DUI conviction. Officers gave Snook a breath test, as well as field tests, and estimated he was at more than twice the legal limit for alcohol, Sloat said.
Snook was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving while suspended and violation of probation. Officers impounded his car for 30 days.
