A 26-year-old Ukiah man was arrested Friday night on suspicion of fleeing after striking two teenage pedestrians with his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Jacob Allen Norgard is suspected of driving northbound in the No. 1 lane of North State Street in Ukiah at a high speed, according to the CHP.

A 16-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy were crossing North State Street at Bricarelli Drive when the 1994 Ford Explorer Norgard was driving came upon them. CHP officials said he did not see the two pedestrians in the crosswalk.

After hitting the two teens, Norgard continued to drive and parked his vehicle just down the road behind a business, authorities said.

Ukiah police officers discovered Norgard leaving the area and intercepted him. CHP officials said he is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was arrested. CHP officials in Ukiah said one of the teen's suffered major injuries.
