Shebest, Sanchez top Empire runners

Alex Tilson of Burlingame won the men's title and Shannon Cody of Redwood City was the women's champion Sunday at the Napa Valley Marathon.

Tilson, 35, was timed in 2 hours, 32 minutes, 17 seconds, and Cody, 36, finished in 3:02:08.

Top finish by an Empire male runner was Windsor's Bob Shebest, fourth overall in 2:41:07, and third in the men's 30-34 division.

Juan Sanchez of St. Helena was eighth overall in 2:44:30, third in men's 35-39.

Sebastopol's Brian Purcell was 30th overall in 3:00:28, second in the men's 45-49 division. Jean-Marc Cabrol of Santa Rosa was 95th overall in 3:17:09 in men's 35-39.

Top Empire woman was Kim Baumann of Petaluma, 108th overall in 3:21:43 and fifth in the women's 35-39 category.

Larissa Fitchett of Santa Rosa finished in 3:36.39, 218th overall and fifth in the women's 20-24 division, and Jennifer Bowen from St. Helena was 219th overall in 3:36:50 and fourth in the women's 30-34 category.
