The victim of a Tuesday morning homicide in Lakeport has been identified as Michael A. Dodele, 67.
Dodele was stabbed several times, primarily in his left side and chest, said Lake County Sheriff?s Department Chief Deputy Russell Perdock.
Whether he died from those wounds has yet to be determined, he said. Dodele was dead when deputies arrived at Western Hills Mobile Home Park on Lakeshore Blvd. shortly after 10 a.m., Perdock said.
The suspected killer, Ivan Garcia Oliver, 29, has been booked on suspicion of murder and a parole violation stemming from an assault conviction in San Diego County.
A motive for the killing has yet to be determined, Perdock, but he allowed, ?We have our suspicions.?
The victim and suspect are believed to have known each other. They lived near each other at the mobile home park, Perdock said.
Witnesses reported that they?d heard the victim and suspect arguing before Oliver was seen leaving Dodele?s trailer, he said. The person alerting police to the altercation reported seeing Oliver, bleeding from his hands, leaving Dodele?s trailer, Perdock said.
Oliver was treated for a cut to his right hand before he was booked.
A knife believed to have been used to stab Dodele has been recovered, Perdock said.
An autopsy, scheduled for Nov. 27, will determine whether that knife was used to kill Dodele, Perdock said.
