Asada gets up, claims gold medal

Two-time Japanese champion Mao Asada finished with 185.56 points, capturing the gold medal at the World Figure Skating Championships in Goteborg, Sweden. Asada rebounded after falling on a triple axel on her first move, hitting a huge triple flip-triple toe loop combination and righting her long-program fortunes.

Two-time European champion Carolina Kostner of Italy won the silver.

Santa Rosa native Kim Navarro and her ice dancing partner Brent Bommentre remained 12th in the overall standings after placing 13th in the original dance competition.

The French team of Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder won the original dance and widened their overall lead going into today's free skate.
