Marc Keyser, accused of coast-to-coast mailings of more than 120 hoax anthrax packages, was released on bail Friday over the strong objections of a federal prosecutor.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly Mueller ordered Keyser released on a $25,000 unsecured bond signed by him, his sister and brother-in-law.

Mueller ordered Keyser, 66, to maintain a log of everything he mails and make the log available to a court officer on request.

Weighing heavily with Mueller was a pretrial service officer's report that Keyser promised he could control his urge and refrain from further mailing of the packages.
