Michelle Crosbie has joined Burr Pilger Mayer as a manager in the tax services practice group. She has 10 years of experience in public accounting, most recently with Dal Poggetto & Company.

Travis N. Staples, a licensed nursing home administrator, was named executive director of Friends House, a retirement community in Santa Rosa. He previously served as interim executive director, and also as a management analyst at Pacific Retirement Services, which manages Friends House through its affiliate Retirement Services, LLC.

Shelby Luginbill has joined Studio 128, a hair salon in Geyserville. Luginbill is a graduate of Redwood Empire Beauty College in Santa Rosa and holds a certificate in theatre makeup from Santa Rosa Junior College.

Dr. Jeffrey Ricks has joined the optometry practice of Dr. J. Michael Harmon, located at Sonoma Eyeworks Optometry in Larkfield Shopping Center. He received his doctorate degree of optometry from UC Berkeley School of Optometry and a bachelor of science degree in psychology with a minor in Chinese studies from Brigham Young University.

The Women's Council of Realtors has named new 2013 officers for its Wine Country chapter. Judith Palmer of Alain Pinel Realtors was named president. Other officers include: Sandy Kolosey of Keller Williams Realty, president-elect; Karen Ball of Pronoeo Insurance, secretary; and Jill Bertoli-Spence of Creative Property Services, secretary.

Pamela Rippin Sorensen, Robin Bartholow and Alan Jackson have joined the Sonoma County Office of Education Adult Career Training program.

Sorensen will be teaching Microsoft Office 2010, Word and Excel courses online. She will continue to teach at Piner High School and in the Business Administration and Computer Studies departments at Santa Rosa Junior College.

Bartholow will be teaching a class on business skills in the workplace. She will continue as workforce development director at the North Coast Builders Exchange. She also serves as the executive director of the CHOICES High School Dropout Prevention program and works as an independent contractor with RMB Management Services.

Jackson will be teaching an adult course on basic electronics. He taught electronics courses at Elsie Allen High School for 15 years. Previously, he owned Commercial Auto and Diesel Electric and worked for many years in Silicon Valley in the electronics manufacturing industry.
