Organizers are taking registrations for the 16th Annual Girls Sports Expo to be held Sunday, Jan. 27 at Santa Rosa Junior College and Santa Rosa High School.
The yearly event offers girls in third through sixth grades an opportunity to sample a variety of athletic endeavors - from swimming to soccer, fencing to golf, tennis to martial arts or hip hop dancing.
The expo is free and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. - rain or shine — with check-in beginning at 8:15 a.m. at SRJC'S Haehl Pavilion, 1501 Mendocino Ave. Walk-in registrations will be permitted if space allows.
Participants should bring water and a snack, and wear clothing and flat-soled, closed-toe shoes comfortable for active play. Swimsuits, towels and water proof bags are appropriate for those who hope to swim.
The event is sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Northern California, the Women's Sports Foundation and Santa Rosa Junior College.
