PC: Lynn Millar leads hikes that are easy and flat, going to places like Riverfront Regional Park near Windsor. June 7, 2012.

Sonoma County's parks department is seeking volunteers on Jan. 21 to help with trail work and weed removal at Riverfront Regional Park west of Windsor.

The work day, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is planned to coincide with other service events across the country to mark the holiday honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Volunteers are to meet in the parking lot for Riverfront park, at 7821 Eastside Road.

Park staff will provide tools, gloves, drinks and snacks.

Volunteers are advised to wear sturdy shoes, long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, a hat, sunscreen and should bring their own water bottle.

Participants should register with Jen Stanfield, 565-2041, or jen.stanfield@sonoma-county.org.
