Days after he appeared in court to face a previous charge of drunken driving, a Healdsburg man was arrested on suspicion of crashing his truck while drunk Tuesday and leaving the scene of the accident, the CHP reported.

CHP officers were called to Limerick Lane, north of Windsor, at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a car crashing into a rock wall, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.

Officers found a crashed Ford Ranger but no driver.

A property owner told officers the driver had walked away from the wreck. Officers learned the truck's owner lived nearby and went to his home. His back door was standing open and he wasn't inside, said Sloat.

They searched the area and found him on the ground in a vineyard, Sloat said. Officers arrested Brett Knippelmeir, 26, on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run.

Knippelmeir was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. He was released after posting bail.

Sloat said the man had been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in December. Last week he was in court and charged with the crime.
