Broken tail light leads to Willits pot arrest

A car's broken tail light resulted in a traffic stop on Highway 101 in Willits followed by the Sunday arrest of the driver for carrying hash oil, said a Mendocino County sheriff's official Monday.

The deputy could smell marijuana as he approached the car, said a sheriff's official.

Driver Dana Brandon Hambelton, 30, of Arcata had four mason jars of "honey oil" or hash oil, plus 92 grams of "bubble hash," another type of concentrated marijuana.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing and transporting the drugs and booked into the Mendocino County Jail.

His bail was $15,000.
