A motorcycle rider ran off of Highway 1 and landed in Tomales Bay, where he was found dead Monday afternoon, the CHP reported.

The rider was floating in the water, in the area of Highway 1 and Clark Road, in northwest West Marin.

Callers reported the body at about 4:45 p.m. They said they couldn't find a motorcycle. The bike eventually was found in the water.

The Marin County Coroner's Office Tuesday morning wasn't releasing the man's name, pending notification of his family.
