A Petaluma woman was arrested Wednesday night for suspicion of brandishing a weapon after she pulled a screwdriver on two people who caught her rummaging through the glovebox of the car they'd left in front of a 7—Eleven store, police said.
Authorities said Angela Marie Amaya, 34, got into the car around 9:30 p.m. while its owner and a passenger were in the store.
When they returned and told her to get out, Amaya refused, and brandished the screwdriver as a weapon when they tried to remove her from the car, police said. No one was injured.
Amaya eventually was removed and then went inside the store and began beating up on an ATM machine, trying to get money, police said.
In addition to brandishing a weapon, Amaya was arrested for suspected battery and resisting arrest and was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, police said.
She remained in custody Thursday morning, with bail of $5,000.
