Three armed men broke into a Santa Rosa home, bound and pistol-whipped a resident and stole marijuana, police reported Wednesday morning.

The 41-year-old man was treated for facial cuts and bruising, Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Clay Van Artsdalen said.

The trio appeared at the man's Aston Avenue apartment at about 9:10 p.m. Tuesday. He told police they used packing tape to bind him, hit him in the face with a handgun and left him in a bathroom, then fled with marijuana and a safe.

The man was loosely bound and able to free himself quickly. The victim called his mother and a neighbor but not police, Van Artsdalen said.

Police were notified just before 10 p.m. The victim gave vague descriptions of the three men and was not very cooperative with investigators, Van Artsdalen said. It was not clear how much marijuana was taken.
